sights and sounds of christmas

Hi there,

Even though dark clouds are hanging over Folkestone (here in the UK) today, the twinkling Christmas lights are bringing some festive cheer. My husband and I decked the halls over a week ago inspired by an evening walk in town. The pandemic has sparked lots of fear and anxiety, however, I believe people are particularly looking forward to celebrating the yuletide period.

During the last month I’ve been busy preparing brand-new Christmas visualisations and lessons. Now I have to confess that I did take advantage of a special visit.

A couple of weeks ago as you can see I had an unexpected guest.🎅 Santa must have sensed that I needed a dose of early festive spirit while writing a new Christmas visualisation for young learners. I've always wondered what it would be like if I had the chance to take a peek inside Santa's workshop. So have my students.

When I close my eyes, I hear

🔺the clattering of constant hammering mixed with 🔺favourite Christmas music and spiced up 🔺with lots of cinnamon and hot chocolate. Those busy elves making so many toys definitely need some help. Don't you think?

And I have to say I am really pleased with the result. The visualisations “At Santa’s workshop” and “On Christmas Eve” are ready to bring lots of joy in my lessons and hopefully in your lessons, too. My special bundle “Sights and Sounds of Christmas” is in my online store.

It consists of 3 plans which utilise mindfulness tools:

Lesson 1- At Santa’s Workshop

A visualization-based lesson plan for young learners which aims to improve their listening, speaking and writing skills.

Lesson 2- Give a Little Love

A lesson plan for young learners which features a mindful activity to help students focus. The students will practise their speaking and listening skills. They’ll also need to put on their creative hat for a collaborative task.

Lesson 3- On Christmas Eve

A visualization-based lesson plan for teens and adults (levels B1 and B2) which involves all their skills. It also teaches students to be kind and compassionate.

And for those of you, who prefer General English Lesson plans, there’s always my collection “Step into the Magic of Christmas”, which includes:

  • 3 lesson plans

  • a reading activity

  • writing prompts

  • resources for young learners

  • some extra fun activities
