Hi there,

Hope you are safe and sound. Over here in the UK a new national lockdown kicks in on Thursday. I believe that now more than ever we need to find ways to help ourselves and our students restore our inner balance and calm. Recently I have been using more nature-inspired lessons to bring the healing power of wildlife into my virtual classroom.

For more inspiration, check out these blog posts:

In the last two posts I shared how we can use Yoga Video Stories and Yoga Songs with young learners. As promised here are some of the yoga stories that I read with my students.

Zoo Zen: A Yoga Story for Kids by Kristen Fischer & Susi Schaefer

Allow Little Lyla to show your students how to practice yoga inspired by the animals at the zoo. Dolphins, gorillas, flamingos and lizards are only some of the animals which teach Lyla how to stand still, stretch wide and feel strong.

Good Morning Yoga by Mariam Gates

This beautiful story teaches kids how to stay still and do some simple yoga poses. The perfect way to start your day or first lesson.

Some key vocabulary- fiery volcano, a lightning bolt, stream, mountain, playful dog, bridge, sailing boat,

Yoga Friends by Mariam Gates and Rolf Gates

Practising yoga is fun when shared with friends. This is what the authors Mariam Gates and Rolf Gates share in this beautifully told and illustrated story.

Some key vocabulary- feathery owl, a lizard, a sailboat, drawbridge, roots and limbs

Yoga Bear by Sarah Jane Hinder

Practise the vocabulary for some of the animals and allow them to teach kids how to restore their inner calm

Kids Yoga Stories

Last but not least, I highly recommend these wonderful yoga stories read by Giselle Shardlow. You can check out her YouTube channel KidsYogaStories
